The Huawei’s Global Connectivity Index (GCI) gives a very comprehensive review of different countries adoptation of digital transformation as well as utilization of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). The Huawei Global Connectivity Index 2018 ‘S-curve’ provides 79 nations digital economy in the form of GCI score vs GDP in visual representation form.
As per Huawei GCI index Pakistan is currently at 77th position. Pakistan is ranked lower due to lower investment in information technology that is 2 as comapred to average 4.4 for top 80 countries. As compared to other countries the internet penetration remains low with major focus on mobile broadband services eas compared to fixed broadband sector. The use of smartphone rate continued to grow as well as broadband download speed has improved for 2018.
