On Tuesday Apple released OS X 10.8.3 for testing community. The latest release also incorporates new drivers for AMD's Radeon 7000 series graphics cards.
AMD's Radeon 7000 series graphic cards are specifically designed by AMD for OEM only. Apple has been using graphic processors from AMD and Nvidia. However its latest systems primarily depends on Nvidia hardware. Apple's Mac Pro lineup is an exception coming with Radeon HD 5770 hardware.
AMD's Radeon 7000 series graphic cards are based on GCN Architecture which is world’s first 28nm graphics architecture. AMD Radeon HD 7970 and HD 7950 graphics has also achieved 3DMark.
With evidence of Apple including latest driver support for AMD’s Radeon 7000, it may be gearing up to switch back to AMD’s graphics hardware for iMac and MacBook models. The iMac is expected to go on sale on 30 November while the larger screen version is expected to be launched by end of December.
